Every summer we take the opportunity to grow a herb garden in our backyard. We love having fresh herbs for our meals. Everything just tastes better! This year we have an abundance of basil and we want to make sure it doesn’t go to waste. We won’t use it all before the end of the summer so we’re taking the opportunity to save some for the colder months.
It’s really easy to preserve your garden herbs. All you need is some prep time and some ice cube trays! Start by picking the herbs off the plant. Rinse the herbs. For basil, chop them into pieces and place a few pieces into each ice cube tray. Pour extra virgin olive oil into each ice cube mold. Then place them in the freezer.
Once frozen, you will have cube size herbs to use all year long. Bonne Appetite!
