Christmas villages are so charming yet they can come with a nice price tag depending on how many pieces you collect. We’ve always wanted to start a collection so this year we decided to build one! I wasn’t sure how this DIY project was going to turn out but we are super happy with the results. It looks lovely in both the daylight and at night when the windows of the homes glow. Kind of makes you want to move in!
I purchased the ‘Shimmer Noel Village’ paper pack from Michaels Canada. (You can also use the 50% off Michaels coupon on this! Score!) The pack includes all the card stock you will need to create the Christmas village. After Adam’s bedtime I would build 2-3 homes per night. They also include some instructions and picture examples on the back of how the homes should look like. All you really need for this build your own Christmas village is time, scissors and a hot glue gun (and maybe some patience for the glue to dry!)
This Christmas village turned out pretty adorable! In the church I inserted a flameless tea light candle to give the church structure a warm candle glow. And, I also purchased the Silver-String LED 30-Light Indoor Strand from Indigo/Chapters and wrapped it around the inside of the rest of the homes to give the village a lovely glow in the evening by our Christmas tree.
To create different levels for a Christmas village simply place a couple boxes on your desired space and cover with a fake snow blanket so it looks like a snowy hill. These fake snow blankets were purchased from Dollarama this year. They still had lots in stock too!
I would highly recommend this build your own Christmas village to anyone who wants something new and charming added to their Christmas decor this year. The countdown to Christmas is on!
