Happy Valentine’s Day loves!
Whether you celebrate today or not we are sharing one of our favourite breakfast recipes for you to share with your loved ones. We typically do not go out on this holiday as it’s usually super expensive and overcrowded. It’s just not our thing. So this year I decided to bring the love into our home by surprising the boys with a Valentine edition Sunday brunch a couple days early. We had all the heart decor going, chocolate dipped strawberries, smoked bacon, local sweets from Cait Crafted Confections and of course pink Belgian waffles!
Here is the super easy to follow recipe for Belgian waffles!
You will need the following ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
3-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 large eggs, separated
1-1/2 cups milk
1 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
+ Add pink food colouring for extra colour
1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar and baking powder. 2. In another bowl, lightly beat egg yolks. 3. Add milk, butter and vanilla; mix well. 4. Stir into dry ingredients just until combined. 5. Add pink food colouring into the batter if you want to change the colour of the batter. 6. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter.
Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer’s directions until golden brown. Serve with your favourite Valentine toppings! Enjoy. Happy Valentine’s Day XO
